Breaking Water accompanies a major group exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati. The exhibition brings together works in installation, video, photography, painting, sculpture, and performance that feature a range of approaches to themes of fluidity, connectivity, and resistance, including four new commissions by artists Paul Maheke, Josèfa Ntjam, Claudia Peña Salinas, and the titular collaborative work by Calista Lyon and Carmen Winant. Through an ecofeminist lens, the catalogue contextualizes these probative works by international artists addressing timely concerns such as water rights, climate change, and the effects of natural disasters.
